| THE EXPRESS GROUP (7B) | THE MIXED ABILITY GROUP |
| is for pupils within the more able band with the ability to work at a faster rate. | In this group work varies much more in pace - some pupils will work quickly, others might take time to complete work set. |
There is also an INTENSIVE TEACHING GROUP for pupils with learning difficulties. These pupils are withdrawn from some subject lessons for 2 terms for extra help.
In addition, some pupils with a National Curriculum Level 3 / weak Level 4 SAT score in English will take part in a special Literacy Booster Programme throughout the year to help bring their SATs score to an average/strong Level 4. This level is what most 11 year olds have achieved by this age. Other students with weak Level 3 SATs English scores will be withdrawn from some mainstream lessons to study progress units to help them reach a Level 4 by the end of Year 7. We have different groups because there are different subject demands. We also want to meet individual pupil needs and to ensure children are stretched to their full potential. However, whatever group a pupil is placed in they will be encouraged and challenged to give of their best.
