| The Reward System |
Our exciting Reward System is based on Merits and is designed to improve motivation, give pupils positive feedback and recognise their efforts. It also injects some fun and an element of healthy competition into school life.
MERITS
Pupils can earn merits for good work and effort. They are signed by staff and given to pupils who post them in a Merit Box.
WALL OF MERITEvery merit is then counted and recorded by our enthusiastic Merit Team, made up of volunteer pupils. They enter a weekly total for every student on class lists. These class lists are displayed near the pupil entrance and are updated every Monday.
PRIZESThere is a weekly prize draw for each year group. The merits act like raffle tickets and go into that weeks draw. If a pupil gets 3 merits during a week, then they have 3 chances of winning. Here is a list of prizes awarded recently:
| Personal stereo | Parker Pen | Watch |
| Giant Chocolate Bar | Simpsons Book | Football Gloves |
| Guiness Book of Records | Perfume | Writing Set |
| Signed Liverpool Football | Radio/Alarm Clock | Toiletries |
Often, we have Spot Prizes where up to 30 pupils each week receive a small prize, such as a biro, party pack or packet of sweets. Many of these prizes have been donated by parents, staff and local businesses. This year we are holding a draw for a Hi-Fi System, a Video Recorder and 20 videos, and a portable CD Player.
CERTIFICATES AND LETTERS OF PRAISE
There are 4 certificates to collect. With each one, the pupils get a letter of praise to take home and a small reward, such as a stamped pencil or colour-change pen.
25 merits = Bronze
50 merits = Silver
75 merits = Gold
100 merits = Platinum
REMEMBER THOUGH : GAINING MERITS IS A BONUS -WE EXPECT ALL OUR PUPILS TO BEHAVE WELL.
STUDENT TARGETS
1. Arrive on time for all lessons.
2. Have all the correct books and equipment for that lesson.
3. Produce the highest standard of work possible.
4. Produce on time all coursework and homework.
5. Be polite and well-mannered at all times to other pupils and staff.
It is important that pupils are encouraged as they progress through school. Over the years we have tried various methods to recognise effort, perseverance and achievement. It is probably true to say that the most successful overall is the positive reinforcement of the individual by their Teachers, Parents, and their peers - boys and girls their own age
